VISITOR INFORMATION

 

Welcome to Newton Open Studios 2005!  Over 125 artists are opening their doors to show their work on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, from noon to 6:00 PM.  You will have a chance to meet the artists and talk to them about their work.  The artwork includes (but is not limited to) painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, glass and fabric art, as well as religious art (i.e. Judaica).  Most work will be for sale and at a wide variety of price ranges.  Artists individual contact info may also be found on their individual listing page (see Artists by name).

This is a free event. You can visit where you please at your own pace.  Look for the red balloons!  Come with family, friends, or just by yourself.  Convenient ample street parking is available at all locations.  Some sites are wheelchair accessible - Please call ahead or see the brochure.

  • New Art Center, 61 Washington Park, Newtonville, off of Walnut Street 

  • Newton Free Library, 330 Homer Street, Newton Center--at the corner of Homer and Walnut Streets

  • Newton City Hall, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton Center--at Walnut Street, Homer Street and Lowell Avenue 

  • Shops and businesses throughout the city

To help plan your visit, there are preview notebooks with information and examples of participating artists' work, starting April 30 and throughout Open Studios weekend, at the following locations:

  • New Art Center,  61 Washington Park, Newtonville, off of Walnut Street 

  • Newton Free Library, 330 Homer Street, Newton Center, at the corner of Homer and Walnut Streets
