The purpose of Kasman's sculpture is to express feelings and aesthetic concepts that are difficult or impossible for him to communicate by any other means. He endeavors to create pieces that convey strength and beauty. He does not illustrate. Kasman's life-long interest in abstract composition and the way the human mind interprets shapes distinguishes his "figurative" sculptures from most. He values solidity, balance and rhythm and is fascinated by the shapes of plants and animals as well as by automobiles and architecture. Kasman studies anatomy and machinery to create figures that appear to articulate and move like living creatures.
In 1998 Kasman Won 1st prize at the 1998 National Sculpture competition. In 2001 his sculptures were selected to appear in MGM's film "What's the Worst that Could Happen?" starring Danny Devito. Kasman's creativity has also produced five US patents.
In 2001 Kasman began to study oil painting. He participated in workshops with noted artists David Leffel and Charles Sovek. He has also gained insight from numerous other sources including Robert Henri's book, "The Art Spirit", as well as John Sloan's book, "John Sloan on Drawing and Painting".
