Linda Bloomingdale is a Registered Nurse by vocation, an Artist by avocation. She has worked with color and fiber in mixed media for over 30 years. She has studied Fiber Arts and Art and has trained with renowned Silk artists Patricia Black, Liena Dieck, Pat Hayes, and Susan Louise Moyer. She has also studied with Newton artist Renee Rubin and Virginia Avery.
Currently, she is concentrating on Silk Surface Design. Her recent work has evolved from her love of color as it flows sensuously across the lustrous silk. Many wonderful textural effects are evidenced by her use of Arashi Shibori, a Japanese technique of folding and dyeing silk, as well as other techniques which create numerous effects including a storm-like pattern.
She is a member of SPIN (Silk Painters International), the Newton Art Association, and the New Art Center. Her scarves are collected and worn with pleasure by women in the U.S. and abroad. She looks forward to meeting you at the New Art Center where she will be showing her work for NOS 2005
